The role of housewives is commonly associated with domestic responsibilities, yet in practice many of them are able to develop economic potential through home-based businesses. This study aims to describe the experience of a mother (pseudonym) who has managed a home-based culinary business since 2018 while continuing to fulfill her family responsibilities. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with in-depth interviews conducted via WhatsApp, the research process allowed flexible communication and provided space for the informant to narrate the dynamics of her business in detail. The findings show that the mother’s business developed gradually through the use of modest initial capital, continuous improvement of her cooking skills, and consistent emotional and material support from family members and the surrounding community. Simple yet effective marketing strategies through social media helped expand her customer base. The business contributed significantly to household income, particularly during periods of financial pressure or increased daily needs. Additionally, the business boosted the informant’s confidence in making economic decisions and encouraged her to continue innovating. Overall, this study highlights that home-based culinary micro-enterprises can serve as an effective pathway for housewives to achieve economic independence. The findings emphasize that family support, practical skills, and the use of accessible digital tools play an important role in strengthening women’s economic empowerment at the household level
