Screening for Plagiarism
Psycounia: Indonesian Journal of Psychology and Counseling is committed to maintaining academic integrity and ensuring the originality of all manuscripts submitted for publication. To support this commitment, all submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism screening as part of the journal's editorial process.
Each manuscript submitted to Psycounia will undergo an initial plagiarism and similarity check before proceeding to the peer-review process. The screening is conducted to identify substantial textual similarities, inappropriate use of previously published materials, duplicate publication, and other forms of academic misconduct.
The plagiarism screening may be conducted using an appropriate plagiarism detection or similarity-checking software. The results of the screening are evaluated by the editorial team rather than being interpreted solely on the basis of a similarity percentage. Similarity may occur for legitimate reasons, such as commonly used terminology, methodological descriptions, references, quotations, or properly cited material. Therefore, the editorial team will assess the context, source of similarity, extent of overlap, and adequacy of citation.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts are original and that all ideas, statements, data, and materials derived from other sources are appropriately acknowledged and cited. Direct quotations must be clearly identified and properly referenced, while substantial use of previously published material must comply with applicable copyright and ethical requirements.
A manuscript may be returned to the authors for revision if the screening identifies inappropriate similarity that can be addressed through proper paraphrasing, quotation, citation, or other corrections. Manuscripts containing substantial or unexplained overlap, plagiarism, duplicate publication, or other serious forms of academic misconduct may be rejected.
If plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct are identified after publication, Psycounia reserves the right to take appropriate editorial action, which may include issuing a correction, expression of concern, or retraction, depending on the nature and seriousness of the violation.
The journal emphasizes that plagiarism screening is intended not merely as a technical procedure but as part of its broader commitment to academic integrity, originality, responsible scholarship, and ethical scholarly communication.
By submitting a manuscript to Psycounia, authors acknowledge their responsibility for the originality and ethical integrity of their work and agree to comply with the journal's plagiarism and publication ethics policies.
